ABOUT

Cadence Chung is a 20-year-old poet, student, musician, and composer from Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington. She began writing from a young age, and started being published in her junior years of high school. Since then, her work has been published and commissioned widely by literary journals, festivals, museums, and galleries.

She is also a regularly engaged singer, currently studying Classical Voice at the New Zealand School of Music. Her compositions are regularly performed, with her original musical In Blind Faith being performed at BATS Theatre in August 2022, receiving national news coverage and a sold-out season. She is a voice and piano teacher at Curious Keys School of Music, and also presents on RNZ Concert.

Cadence is also one of the founders and editors of Symposia Magazine, a new literary publication seeking to promote emerging poets. Symposia's first issue was released in March 2023.
